CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Matthew Burns is the CEO of Taungurung Land & Waters Council (TLaWC) and a Taungurung man. He is also a Director of Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations and a member of the Aboriginal Advisory Council for the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority.
Matthew’s strengths are within the areas of leadership, project/business management, financial markets and stakeholder relations. Prior to TLaWC, Matthew worked with the ANZ Bank and played a key role in the implementation of Indigenous programs, including holding the secretariat position on the ANZ National Reconciliation Committee.
Chris has been part of TLaWC management since July 2016. Prior to that he served for a time as an Independent Director on the TLaWC Board.
He has worked with Aboriginal people across Australia for many years and was the founding CEO of Native Title Services Victoria (now First Nations Legal and Research Services).
Chris has a Masters degree in Administrative Leadership (UNE) and tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal Studies (Adelaide) and Community Work (Darwin).
Sherryn is a proud Taungurung woman with a long history of involvement in Taungurung cultural activities.
Prior to taking up a management role with TLaWC, she was for a couple of years a member of the TLaWC Board and was in 2019 elected as Deputy Chair of the Board.
Sherryn brings very strong corporate management experience to her role and is responsible for all field operations, including all staff and activities out of the TLaWC Alexandra office.
